Co-directors
Roger Grupp, Saint Paul Public Works, retired

Roger is a longtime member, soloist, and arranger for Twin Cities brass groups, rhythm and blues bands, and concert bands. He played trumpet for the University of Minnesota's top wind ensemble, as well as other bands there. He has played trumpet, trombone, and baritone for many other groups over the years. He is a recent inductee into both the Buglers Hall of Fame and the World Drum Corps Hall of Fame. In addition to the Capital City Wind Ensemble, Roger also helps lead Minne-Brass (a 20-member brass group) and Classic Brass Inc., a brass quintet he helped found with his wife, freelance writer and biographer Tina Cavitt.

He has an active music arranging business at NonPublicWorks.com.

Mary Livingston, Saint Paul Parks and Recreation

Mary earned her B.A. in Music Education from Macalester College.
She enjoys playing music, and in her job she gets to use music in several ways. She directs the Golden Melody Makers (a 4-part chorus of adults age 50+), and she plays piano and leads sing-alongs for people with developmental disabilities twice a month. Besides playing euphonium and co-directing the Capital City Wind Ensemble, she plays euphonium in the Star of the North Concert Band. Mary likes to play tuba in concert bands when she gets the opportunity. Over the years, she's played piano, accordion, harmonica, organ, guitar, and even the bagpipes in college.
